I just realized that the TPK/TonePros Kluson line of Tuner products has been discontinued. I am disappointed as I have those outstanding tuners on two Les Pauls. Does anyone know what is going on the current Historics and USA Standards? At this point, what is the best set of new tuners that looks like the old tuners?

I would contact WD and also TonePros and ask them. I would think that they would still have some stock that hasn't sold. I have a set of their vintage TPK single line/single rings on my R-8 and they work incredibly well. I also have a double ring version on an SG/LP I sold earlier this year. Best, smoothest tuners I've ever used.

Can you elaborate on the single line/single ring tuners. What's the model number or part number? Maybe a pick or link?

Thanks,

Roger

Schaller and Grover all make basically the same exact tuner. I don't have any idea why Tonepro discontinued what they claim was a popular product. They obviously are leaving out the explanation.

Schaller and Grover (and gotoh too) are definitly different from TP, which have are more solid baseplate and are much heavier. This is a good thing and is a part of the Grover Rotomatic sound. Faber sells a tuner with a pretty similar to the TP looking baseplate construction.
I swapped recently TP for Schallers, there was an audible difference.
TP stopped production - as i understand it - because of legal issues with the name Kluson.
