• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Too bad most people [and dealers too] don't make good records of things like serial numbers. :dang
Yeah really, or even want to try and help. Oh well, thanks anyway Tom, your insight (and everyone elses) has been greatly appreciated. I guess I'm done until it shows up on the registry , or a new member posts some pics of their '56 Jr. I may try to make it down to Third Eye within the next couple of weeks if it works out!

Just call or email to make sure I am there. :)

I wouldn't be so quick to give up a search. I bought a '59 LP seven years ago and tracked down the person (2nd owner who also knew the first owner) who owned it in 1969 and he just wrote me an email yesterday. It took some pretty good detective work. You probably need to find your pics. Good luck!!!

Finally found the only two pics that I have. There's not really any distinguishing marks exept being a 3 color top. It was a very clean guitar with alot of light checking. Felt strange looking at these pics, I haven't seen them in fifteen years.:wow

I had a '57 that I could tell in a second if it was my old one. This quest justifies the internet!!! I found my stolen '72 LP after nine years and am still searching for the '57 reissue Strat - I WILL FIND IT - trust me! Work it!

Here are some more confusing details....the pickup was moved away from the bridge on the Jrs in late 1956, somewhere around the 14,000 serial number range.

I found two Jrs now for sale, one with #13834 and another with #13070, who have the pickup positioned closer to the bridge like on Granny's Jr.

All this would mean that the correct serial number of the guitar you are looking for might not be #13230......:worm

BTW - although it seems to be apparent in some pictures, the Jrs did not have a three color sunburst shading.

That's funny, cause I have been studying the pics and was getting ready to ask a question along that line.
I do have some good news though, I talked to Dave (the one I traded to) yesterday and he's trying to help me by going through his sales receipts and trying to find where and when he sold it:spabout .
After looking at my copy of the receipt, the #1 of #619230 doesn't look that definite, almost like a mistake, so 69230 maybe more likely because of the pickup placement. The date however is 11/12/94, and knowing how Dave trades it was probably sold by 5/12/95. But hopefully he will find something that will help.
Thanks Keef for your research. If anybody else on the forum were looking for a specific guitar or amp,(or anything else for that matter) I would ask everyone that I thought could have had one, that's just how I am.:jim

I know it's been a long time, but I've been thinking about Grandma's Jr. again. Just thought I'd bump this old thread.

So if anyone has bought any Junionrs in the last 8 years or so with any serial number that looks like 61923, 69230, 613230 or a number that's close and has early '56 specs please post a pic. I'd love to see them.

Thanks

Are you able to repost the photos? They are not showing up.

Good luck with your search!

grandma may have really rocked that junior. remember... if she is 80 now she would have been around 26 during the summer of love.
i was in the super market the other day and some great grandma looking broad was singing along word for word with an old WHO song that was playing.
really makes you think.
