• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I like Tweed Fender amps, but I LOVE my early blonde and brown Fender amps!!
I have tried all the different Tweed models, but always found that the blonde and brown Fender's had more of what I liked in guitar tones. Sound really good with Fuzz and Overdiven tones. I guess the best IMHO are the early brown and blondes with Triad transformers and that shared a lot of the same parts (maybe some circuits shared?) as the Tweed amps. My favorite right now is a 1961 Fender 6G6 with original matching 2x12" cab (late 6g6, though still has the Rectifier tube) same as the 1x12" tone ring cab with 2x12". I put some Celestion Silver bell T1696 speakers in it and it just sings!! Interestingly, it has a 5F6-A tube chart in it that has "6G6" written in. Great amp! Sounds great through the "Bass" channel...!! What does a Marshall Plexi have that a blonde Fender doesn't? I've tried them, but I felt Fenders had a more "meaty" sound...? Maybe that's just me...?

I wish that someone made a faithful rendition of this amp.

The key to make Fender tweeds sound good, mix and match your glass to come out with it's best tone and then match it with a guitar that sounds good on it. Thirdly, certain pedals work nicely with them. Vintage Reverb tanks give a little more punch and treble gain. Just saying!!!

I'm always torn between my 5F6-A and my 5G-12, I love them both.

Can I ask why have you placed those 1/2 pallets under the amps?

Basement man cave, don't want to worry about water damage. I think those pallets (they came in that size and are not your regular wood pallet) look decent, but that's prolly just me:)

Thanks yeti. Just curious :)

Sure they look better than the regular pallets.
