• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

We're they both made in the same year? Serial numbers repeat every 10 years.

Yes they were made the same year and this is supposed to be a limited number of 50. The owner of the other has a bill of sale from Gibson but they didn't issue him a certificate. I do have a certificate.

Without clear pics of both it is just a hard to believe story.

Have you heard the joke about Limited editions ? Like how many are they limited to ? As many as they sell .

Big Al, thanks for taking the time to look at my post and I do have clear pictures of both guitars, serial numbers and bills of sale for each, tried to call Gibson to no avail. Not sure what to do because the other guitar certainly appears to be a Gibson original other than contact the distributer that sold me the guitar as a 1 of 50 with a serial number that should not appear on another guitar.

The first three phots are from the duplicate serial number and the last four photos are from my guitar .

Big Al I added the clear pictures, I'm interested in your opinion. He was not issued a certificate but from looking at his guitar the TM aging etc. it appears to be authentic.

??????? They both look to be Gibson made, (we need to talk about clear pictures), but not matching paperwork and that 2nd serial looks off. It doesn't match in spacing or application and I cannot make out the letters. I'm not certain about the employee purchase of fsr dealer ltd ed guitars. It seems to me that the dealer would get all the guitars of the run they contracted for. 1 thru 60. Sumptins not right, I find it even more questionable now.

This is the serial from the back of the one I own which came with the certificate. The 'A' has a slight chip at the top

IIRC wasn't that a run of 50 that included a handwired Blusebreaker? Who breaks up that set? Was it an Europe deal? I never saw any here, but I wasn't in the market. Were there 10 guitar only deals to get to 60? I still find it hard to believe Gibson would sell one out of a dealers run. Unethical at least. Vintage World and the Murphy forged serial# fiasco from way back come to mind.

Big Al, you are correct this was a limited 50 run with the Bluesbreaker amp. The set was way to expensive so they stared breaking up the sets and selling the guitars and amps separately. I purchased this from Sweetwater with the certificate, new on 7/6/15 and it appears the other was purchased 10/3/18 without a certificate. Thanks

TTyMiller, this is really interesting...how in the world did you two find out about each other's guitar?

I have been informed that his is a fake listed on reverb. He also claims to own #50, but that is listed by Rumble Seat and not him. He also has only posted the one listing.
