I've been following this thread with some interest - and, I think, some healthy skepticism - but I wonder if it could have any connection to the appearance of a 1959 'Burst at Gruhn's in remarkable condition? The one at Gruhn's has a factory Bigsby, which I think the original poster here might have mentioned, and the photos from Gruhn do not show any of the "case candy" which Gruhn usually does. But, the pictures make it look a lot like a 'Burst that's seen very little use over its lifetime. Is this a previously unknown guitar showing up at Gruhn's or is anyone here aware of its provenance? https://guitars.com/inventory/eb7101-1959-gibson-les-paul-standard

I bring this up because of the timing. The original post here was May 27th. The 'Burst appeared in Gruhn's website in the past couple of days. The description also says that Gruhn refretted the guitar and re-wound the rear pickup. So, the timing would be about right if the original poster contacted Gruhn shortly after posting here. But like not mentioning the Bigsby, Gruhn not photographing the case candy, the need for a refret makes one wonder. But it's a bit of a coincidence that a 1959 in this condition would show up at this time.

For feck sake, you guys just don't get it. The post is fiction, he didn't find a burst it's a made up thread.
You are fantasing over a guitar that doesn't exist.

I tend to agree. I just think it's worth noting that a month after the initial post, this turns up at Gruhns. This is why I asked, initially, if anyone had any information on the provenance of the one at Gruhns.

Is the one at Gruhn's 9 1998? I believe it is on Julio's site.

I guess we can finally wrap this up now, it’s been fun, a lot of laughing, a lot of weeping. Friends made, friends lost, Adieu mon ami, adieu. Adios amigo, till next time.
