• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

@Brian Krashpad I think your collection of guitars is astounding. I wish I made enough money to buy myself a Gretsch or a 61 Strat. Those would be the crown jewels of my collection.
Aww, thanks IMMUSICRULZ!

Many of the guitars are actually quite affordable, probably up to one-third of them cost me $300 USD or less; the most I've paid for any of them is $850. There are no Gibson Historics or Custom Shops and no Fender Custom Shops either (although I do have the one "American Vintage" '52 Re-Issue Telecaster), and nothing that's both vintage and especially collectible (my '60 Fender Duo-Sonic is the only truly "vintage" guitar, and it's been refinished, although otherwise is original).

So it's actually a pretty budget-minded stable! The only reason the overall number of items is fairly high is that I'm old, haha. Been playing since about 1970 or so (although exclusively acoustic for the first few years, didn't get an electric until the early or mid '70s).

How does the Ovation sound and play?
The action is very low, and it has a nice ebony board. But the pickups are very odd "torroidal" single-coils, and the controls are very weird, and counter-intuitive to how controls work on most other guitars. So it's quirky at best, and takes work to get more usable sounds. Especially difficult with high volumes and distortion in live situations, very prone to feedback.
