• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I was browsing Reverb, and this guitar caught my eye for two reasons --
1. It looks like a nice example.
2. The price seems kinda high.
Any opinions on what the realistic value of this guitar is in today's market?

Seems, over priced to me, but it does seem to be in good condition from my quick look. I’d expect $4000 - $5000 depending upon condition. Wish that I never let my ‘77 LP Custom go.

Thanks for your input.
I don't know enough about this era of Les Pauls to know what a fair offer would be.

Why this one? Lots of 77, 78, 79 Les Pauls around for a lot less dough. 8k buys Historic R9, R0 or R8 with lots of change back and an arguabley much better guitar to boot. Why this overpriced one???

It is a good idea to know what you want in a Les Paul before just picking one on a whim. Lots of variations in build and specs over the years. Drastic changes in feel and performance mean know what you want, not what others want. This era 77-82 have very thin maple necks with wide low frets and average weights over 10lbs. Cool, if that is your preference, not so cool if it is not.

Ski jump.

3mar67, if you have specific needs in a Les Paul, or a guitar in general, post them. Things you prefer as a player, like neck profile, fret size, weight, ect. or, vibe and build specs like built in Kalamazoo or Nashville, woods and spec choices like Mahogany or Maple neck, one or three piece neck, bookmatched or three piece top, figured or plain. Norlin, Henry or new era, vintage or modern, ect..

We can point you in the right direction. Price is only dependant on your willingness, not ability to pay. I would not be willing to pay for this one, others may. Be smart about it.

I’d look used Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop R8 or Standard ‘50s or Standard ‘60s (depending on neck size preference) and save some money.
