• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Want more headroom and top end volume for my 70s Vibrolux 2/10. Looking at Wharehouse G10s. 4 or 8 ohms?, they are rated at 75 watts. Have replacement Jensens presently and they sound awful and break up way too early. Need some user input if possible.

You'd want 8 ohm speakers (in parallel) for a 4 ohm load.

I've tried the Warehouse G10s before. They're good sounding but very stiff...no give and after months, they never "broke in" the way most speakers do. I'd recommend the Eminence Ragin Cajuns or GA10-SC64 (Allessandro) speakers. The GA10s are the closest things I've heard to capturing the best aspect of vintage Jensens w/o their tendency to flubbiness.

I put Alessandro G10-SA64’s in one of my VR’s. It’s a great American voiced speaker in any SF or BF Fender amp.

I've got Eminence Copperheads in my '64 Vibrolux. I wanted to stay in American tone land but have a little more sting than just a Blackface replacement speaker. I have the Eminence Alessandro in my '66 Deluxe Reverb and it's great if you're looking for a traditional American sound.

I just ordered two Alessandro G10-SC64’s for my black-line drip-edge Vibrolux Reverb.

Very good American voiced speakers designed as replacements for Fender Amps.

Eminence ALK1028s are great in such an amp. Emi makes quite a variety of 10s that each yield slightly different results, ime.
the ALK does BF Reverb cleans great, and they yield great tone and harmonic 9ntent if one deals in gain/overdrive/distorti9n…smooth on the high end in distortion modes.

Perhaps keep an eye out for a pair of 60's Jensen C10Q's?

They seem to garner a lot of favour in this amp.

I just pulled my good-condition original Oxford’s from my black-line Vibrolux and swapped in two Alessandro GA10-SC64’s. Just tried them with my Les Paul Special.

Very articulate speakers and again, impressed these brand new (right out of the box) speakers. I’ll box the Oxfords for now and give these chance to break in.

The amp gained some volume, did it not?

It definitely gained some volume and clearer notes than the old Oxfords.

I really didn’t get to much chance to test out the new speakers. My amp started dropping volume a couple of days after I installed the Alessandro’s. My Vibrolux is now with my tech and hopefully I’ll get it back tomorrow.

New filter caps and the old VR is back in business again! The date stamp on the previous set of filter caps was 1995. Apparently overdue.

I'm having great experience with Warehouse Green Beret 10's right now. I know they're called "greenback" clones or whatever but they're just an old school sounding speaker. Maybe not too efficient but not as bad as some of the tweeners the amps originally came with. Could be wrong but I think there's something to the paper former construction. They're a simple sounding speaker that lets you put the amp where you want it, they won't add sparkle/chime like some speakers nor will they get too biting like some other modern stuff.
