Let me start off by saying that Vince is one of my favorite guitar players on the planet, and may be my favorite singer. Given that, imagine my delight yesterday when he came over to my house (he had a gig in town). First off, he may be the nicest guy I've ever met. After spending five minutes with him, it was like I had known him forever. He's also every bit as big a guitar nerd as I am. He brought Charlie Worsham with him (Charlie plays in his band and also has a couple of his own records out. Check them out...the boy can play!).
We sat around and geeked out on my guitars for a couple of hours and then we went to his soundcheck.
That's when I got to see his burst! In the excitement, I forgot to get the serial number, but it HAS to be a 9 19XX as it's wood and color are SO close to Nicky.
Anyway, the lighting was horrible at soundcheck, but I managed to snap a couple of semi-shitty photos of it. She's been played, and the neck has been shaved to more of a full 60 (which he likes...he likes skinnier necks).
The freakin' thing sounds wonderful.

Too cool. I saw a show or video of some sort awhile back where he talked about his guitar collection and how he stored them, etc. Seemed like a really good and humble guy. I enjoy his playing and singing, especially his Tele sound :jim

Thx for posting these Charlie. Vince is certainly among the greatest and to hear him on a burst must be incredible. Sure is cool he's got one. I've watched the yt vid of him playing the Duane GT and love that tone.
Pretty cool he's going to play some gigs with the Eagles...that'd be a show to see! Him and Joe, wow.

It so weird how close this guitar is to Nicky. In addition to the color and similar wood, they even have the same checking pattern around the bridge pickup volume control knob.

Here's Vince's...

And here's Nicky's...

I always assumed those marks were from something banging the knob.

They probably are most of the time, but Nicky's shows no evidence of ever taking a hit in that area.

I re-read this. I though you meant Peter Green. Didn't realize you meant pick guard. Doh.

Charlie is a good old home boy from just up the road. I've been knowing him and his family since he was a young boy. He would sit in with the old folks at the lake and pick the hell out of the banjo. Very talented young man. Glad he toughed it out and made it.
