• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hi All,
I'm new here, but I thought I would post this link to the Ebay Guitar that was obviously stolen at some point in its life.
The serial numbers are gauged out. Definately NOT because of the tuners as the seller suggests... Maybe someone will recognize it!!!!

I don't know how the law is in USA - but here in DK such a guitar (if stolen) still belong to the person who it was stolen from. So if you bring such a guitar to a gig and a person claims the guitar to be his (or hers...) and they can prove it - then you have to give to the person and your money is lost. So - it's an extremely bad thing to buy such a guitar. If the insurance company have paid to the original owner for it at a point - then it in the same manner belongs to the insurance company - not you - and then you sometimes can buy it again from the company. That's how my long time friend and bass player got his 1962 Precision. He routinely called the police to check the serial number of the bass... and they said: "Please come around personally with the bass..." and when he arrived: "Thank you...it's stolen..." and they took it. Luckily the insurance company gave him the opportunity to buy it once again for a fair price.

Man, besides the karma thing, you really get hosed if the owner sees your "hot" guitar... Interesting, I didnt know the law was like that. Not that i would ever buy a stolen guitar(on purpose)..
