I feel very fortunate to own a 1960 stratocaster. I've only owned one for a couple years. Before that, when I traveled with work, I would make every attempt to find guitar stores that had vintage guitars that I could play or drool all over.
My pots were acting up lately, so yesterday I took the guitar down to a local tech shop to have it checked out. The owner is a vintage enthusiast, and member of this board, and has some cool stuff. There was another guy in the shop that brought his reissue strat to be looked at. When my guitar was done, I offered to let him play the guitar and he was pretty excited. I topped it off by asking the shop owner if I could pull his '57 deluxe out for him to play on and the owner said yes.
So we set the guy up with my '60 strat playing through the '57 deluxe and while he was playing he had that after-glow smile on his face. I commented on it and one of the other guys in the shop said "you can have sex anytime, its not very often you get to play that combination".
It was awesome to be able to give him the experience. I'm pretty cautious of who I let know what I have, but when the opportunity strikes and the cards line up, I'm very happy to let others play. I still feel pretty good about the experience.
