...and manhandled Gladys and his seafoam '64 Strat through some of Jim Marshall's finest.
As if it's not enough that these are some of the most beautiful specimens out there, they play like butter and sound fantastic too.
Gladys has a very balanced, pleasing tone. A lot of low end balls without getting muddy or cluttered, sustain up the wazoo, great bloom - even with an aggressive pick attack, it was as if the note grew stronger from there, like revving a muscle car.
I brought my conversion for comparison, and while it has the old wood resonance and low end, it couldn't touch Gladys in the sustain/bloom category.
Oh well, it still slays Lesser Pauls left and right... no shame in being beat by an Uber-burst, I guess. =(
