• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Went to buy tubes and met a guy with a '60 burst and '52 GT!

Hey there,

I bought some tubes from eBay from a guy who lives locally. We met up this afternoon to make the transaction and we started talking about guitars and gear.

He tells me about his band and that he plays out and has all this great vintage gear. Old Marshall plexi, old black face Fender's, tons of NOS tubes...

And then he says, here is my album cover with my '52 GT. It needs a neck reset but he loves it. It looked sweet in the pics I must say! Then he tells me that he owns a burst. My head is spinning at this point. I asked if it was a '59 but he says it's a '60...oh...well then I am not interested...:rofl

Seriously...we talked a few more minutes and he invited me down to see his band...sit in and jam and get together with him anytime to play and see his gear.

How cool is that? I look forward to it! I'll try to get pics if I can when it happens. I won't tell the guys name on here to keep this confidential but this is a true story that happend just today.

Absolutely try the Burst out(if he'll let you). As a Lefty, can probably play an upside down open E or barre chords etc. Not often you run into a guy with a BURST:peace2

Play his 60 and get real aquainted with it, especially with a nice vintage plexi or something tasty. Then the next day wAlk into Guitar Center and play a Historic they may have stashed bhind the counter and after 10 minutes say to the guy "Nah, doesn't feel like the one I played at all." and leAve...

You gotta admire a guy who shows a stranger his 'burst. Not sure that I would do that!

He hasn't showed it to me yet....

I hope to meet up with him to see it some time soon.

:salude

When I do I will report back to you guys with hopefully some pics too.

And, yes. This was a very positive eBay experience. Ands the tubes were excellent NOS Phillips 12ax7s from 1963!
