• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What’s this mean and why?

actually that is a very good question, I've often wondered the meaning of that myself.

Looks like some 'politicians' wording for something that doesn't make any sense, as per usual.

I suspect @LyleGorch is referring to, under certain circumstances, "You have insufficient privileges to reply here" appears in place of the 'Post-Reply' button, bottom-left.

Most likely restrictions exist for certain forum/pubs, e.g. dealers and-or as differentiated by donation-made member status.

@MikeSlub can clarify when he has a moment.

I get this question most when people try to reply to Classified ads. We don't allow replies in that section. Members who post items for sale are supposed to provide contact information in the ad, and the discussion should be off-line between seller and prospective buyer. Also, we'd get folks "kicking the tires" of items for sale without even seeing them or having a discussion with the seller.

If there are other areas where you are getting the "insufficient privileges" notification that you think you should have access to, please send me a note and I'll research the issue.

This seems like good sense to me.
It also cuts out comments like, "$1200 for that boat-anchor piece of crap?"
Although, when given the opportunity, I'm more likely to write, "Solid deal on a nice guitar."
When warranted, of course.
