• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What are people using for photo hosting?

Hello all

it appears that my Photobucket pictures on some of the threads are no longer available. What are some other photo hosting sites that people are using for their images?

I suggest maintaining a Facebook page for the purpose of image hosting. It's free and always will be.

You can upload as many images as you like and it works every time.

  1. Upload your photo to your Facebook page (if you have one - if you don't, start one)
  2. Then, open the image on your Facebook page
  3. Copy the URL (image location)
  4. Use the Insert Image tool at the top of the LPF post window, and copy the URL of the image into the dialogue box.
  5. Finally, post your image on LPF using the Submit Reply button.

If you set the privacy setting accordingly, you can select who can (or cannot) see a picture on Facebook very easily.

For example, I uploaded this image and selected "Only me" as the Facebook audience, yet you can see it on LPF.

You can even remove the pic from your timeline (select Hide From Timeline) if you wish, but it will still show up on the LPF.

I upload to a thread (any thread) on tdpri.com, then link it to wherever.

People over there wonder why I'm picture bombing their threads with random pictures.

If you selected Only me as the audience allowed to view the image on Facebook, nobody will see it there but yourself.

But can you DELETE it from Facebook? The reason I ask is I prefer to control my content. If I post something I didn't intend to (say a picture that has my address in view on the counter or something) and don't notice it right away I want to be able to delete it. Also I have had run ins with management on sites before and would prefer to delete my content when I feel it is my best interest.

(It appears mine don't work anyways)

Can't imagine why.

As far as I can tell, you can use Facebook to host images, post the image elsewhere by copying/pasting the image location URL, and you could either hide the image from others by uploading it to Facebook as "Only Me", or by deleting it entirely, which will hide it from you, too.

As far as your issue with posting your test image goes, have you asked an IT professional what you're doing wrong?

I use FB for hosting and AFAIK if you delete it there it will be deleted here as well, if you hide it there it will still remain visible here. I created an album there for hosted images and while there is quite a bit of unpredictable, diminished quality (a pixel tax, if you will) it has worked out pretty well. There's no seeing the future though and FB could pull a PB there at any time as well... :spabout

I tested that theory by deleting all the images in my previous post (see below) from my FaceBook photos. I did it a week ago.

They are still visible here.

May be they will vanish like the Cheshire Cat eventually. I'll check back periodically.

How do you accomplish this? There was a time in the past when one could upload to TDPRI directly from one's computer, but they changed that quite some time ago. AT least, there was a change around which I do not know a way....not being the most computer literate person that I am???
Maybe this 'photobombing' is why there was a change.

I started my own website back in 2001 and it has lived on 1and1 (now 1and1 Ionos) since 2003. I pay a monthly fee and a once-a-year registry fee. I get unlimited storage and bandwidth. Besides hosting my photos, at this point the site has over 100 pages of material.

Of the most famous photo hosting sites, I like to use Flickr. This site supports good quality, sometimes even above HD. I appreciate it in something like this. And I've always used Pinterest as a source of references. Even this photographer https://www.wanderlustportraits.com/newborn-photography-orlando/, from whom I've booked photo shoots for my girlfriend and me more than once, uses this very photo hosting. First of all, it's the most famous of all photo hosting sites. Secondly, this site supports the largest sizes and different formats, and that's important for the work of photographers or retouchers. What was the purpose of your Flickr registration?

hosting is no longer required as the current site will allow uploads of photos 1MB and smaller.
