• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What does the "T" stand for?

In current Gibson Model names, a lot of them have a "T" after the name, like "Gibson Les Paul Standard T."

What the heck does the "T" stand for anyway?

Starting in the 2016 model year Gibson USA split their lineup between a "Traditional" build type and a "High Performance" build type (or T & HP respectively).

The T line is a typically built LP (normal neck width, normal/manual tuners, normal nut, etc).

The HP line incorporates many of the "new" things Gibson has been trying to push over the past several years (wider "soloist" neck, GForce e-tuners, zero fret nut, etc).
