• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What have you bought guitar-related in the last 48 hours?

Bought some good vinyl laser labels that actually stick to guitar cases. Spent the afternoon matching cases to guitars and packing teh cases back in the closet.

I needed to buy some new strings for my Big Baby Taylor-e, so I ordered a set. While I was at it, I bought a guitar tool kit for repairing and maintaining. I always say I'm a software and not a hardware guy, but sometimes you just gotta roll up your sleeves. I should be prepared now.

I did put in a pre-order today for something today, does that count?

I’m hunting for a phaser. Just not sure what I’ll use it for or which one to pick up

I bought an Iridium last month as well. Great piece of kit. Gets me both types of tones I’m looking for....plus the AC30 which I have little experience with.
I've had my Iridium since early 2020. It really adds an energy and punch that sounds much more alive than software-based guitar modelling plugins. The AC-30 is fun for time-based effects, a la the Edge. I've even run software synthesizers through it as well, to make them sound less sterile.

In the last 2 weeks I've been building a partscaster Fender Jaguar. I started with a poplar bodied Classic Vibe Jaguar. I've replaced everything but the body, strap-holders and tuners.

I replaced the tremolo for a locking Japanese AVRI.
I replaced the poly finished block neck bound Laurel fretboard neck for a lacquer finished dot neck unbound Pao Ferro fingerboard neck
Replaced the bridge with a new 7.25 radius model
Replaced the nut on the new neck with Tusc XL
Installed Tusc XL string retainer on new neck
Replaced pickups with handwound pickups from EP Customs
Replaced all internal electronics with cloth pushback wire, switchcraft jacks and switches, CTS pots
Replaced tortoise pickguard for American parchment
Replaced control plates for American plates
Replaced the already replaced tremolo and bridge with Halon Offset hardware

So I turned a $500 guitar into a $1500 partscaster, but man, it kicks ass...

In 1981, I bought my first left handed 6 string, a Japanese Ibanez Artist. I foolishly sold it. Ever since, I've felt sick about it. When the web became a thing, I began looking. This morning, I did my usual search, and a beautiful model popped up on Reverb. Just under 1000 bananas, I immediately bought it.

This is sort of a take-backsies post. I sold my Joe Bonamassa '58 Black Beauty Les Paul Custom yesterday in a CL posting. Neither buyer nor seller were harmed in the transaction. With the impending house closing and enormous amount of work needing to be done to it, I'm of a mind to sell a few more things, not necessarily just guitars. I've amps, outboard gear, pedals, speakers that can help out with the projects before me.

Those are probably the best picks ever made. Always used them and never dropped one, plus they feel great.

None of it has arrived yet, but I bought some new tuners for a Strat I bought a couple weeks ago and also a bunch of single strings (.009 and .011s for my strats, and .010s and .013s for my Gibsons) for those relatively rare occasions when I break one.

I just received a coupe of sets of Ernie Ball M-Steel Hybrid Slinky Strings (.009-.046) for my Music Man Cutlass. I wanted to hear how it sounded with the strings it came with as kind of a baseline. They sound okay but there's a lot of finger noise. We'll see how they play in.
