I am looking at a possible trade for a 2006 R8 plaintop. I am wondering what they currently are selling for on the used market. Not mint. Excellent condition with some back worm tracks. Washed cherry.

Every time I think about answering your thread I just end up watching the girl wash the car........but low to mid 2's......thousands that is should be in the ball park. Also take a look at completed auctions on Ebay.

No way mid-2's for an '06 with belt wear...2200.00-2300.00 at most...mint would be around 2500.00-2600.00...you can find them brand new for 2800.00-2900.00.
.....of course this doesnt take into account how it feels, plays and sounds to YOU..!!!!..in that case it could adjust the price up (or down...)

I'm glad I didn't buy my '06 R8 for the investment, but at least I haven't lost money! I paid 2,400 for it (technically used) in '08.

Man, I sold one of the finest 2006 R8s I ever saw, no wear, no worm marked back. Not a scratch and with a killer set of zebra Wolfetone Legends...in a Lifton case for $1500 cause I was in the middle of some major upgrades to a new sporty car. The R9 I bought later that year to replace it is nice but I'm not sure that overall I didn't like the R8 better. It certainly had the nicer neck for me. All I know is I'd forgotten how long and hard I'd searched to find that perfect specimen and it's one I would probably be prepared to pay $2500 for now to have it back!

I trade guitar for quite some time now and I am astonished about the second hand/used prices nowadays... I just don't get it. Why would I pay $2600,- for a used R8 if I can get one new for about $2800 - 3000??

The same goes for the situation here in Europe. Eveybody is suddeny asking stupid prices for their used (often non original/not mint) R8s. I see 2400 - 2600 very often, but you can get them new at dealers for that same amount.

If you ask me, about two-third of new price is a good used price. Id say 2000 USD/Euro if the guitar speaks to you.

Here's one I sold back in the fall. Near mint, a little on the heavy side. My asking price was $2300. It sat for a couple of weeks and I ultimately sold it for $2200. Had I held out a little longer I probably could have gotten the asking price, but I was interested in moving it to help fund another purchase.

$2k seems a bit low, unless it weighs a ton or is a beater...or both.
