• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

what is the silver face Fender on Cosmo's Factory album cover ?

was the Cosmo's a drip edge ?
Doesn't look like it. We are really getting into my roots here: Cosmo's Factory was my first album that I received as I was learning guitar. You can see the amp again on the back cover at Wally Heider's studio, along with a couple of Kustom tuck n' roll amps.

Any guesses as to what it is perched on top of?

Looks to have at least 1 substantial handle on it,Some type of PA head perhaps?

yeah Bob ..i dont have that album here to really look close but I always like that pic ..for some reason I thought it was a '68-69 drip edge but beings the album is from '70 maybe the amp was "factory" fresh :)

Looking behind the drum kit, you can see the neck of a Gibson. It looks to be an SG style Les Paul Custom, judging by the color of the fretboard and the fret markers.

I thought that it was John's black 1970 LP custom..

It could be. Maybe it's the camera angle, but the neck looks really thin, and the headstock large.

Could be a Vibrolux or even a Pro. Looks like there might be room on the faceplate for bright switches.

I’m going to say Vibrolux as it looks to be longer than a Deluxe. Maybe the back cover will show what it is..

Without some scale for reference, it is hard to know for sure, but I think I see a Vibrolux Reverb there. The VR is my favorite BF/SF Fender reverb amp.

It's bigger than a Deluxe, and smaller thana Pro/Twin. Articles have him using Vibrolux. That gets my vote. Vibrolux Reverb.

see logo in relation to the knobs. Also the blue name only goes partway across that space. That blue line of type would nearly fill that area if a Deluxe.

From the album's back cover (of course, not necessarily the same amp).

Is that a JBL dust cap visible? If so then VR/PR... VR probably gets my vote...
