hello! i m looking at a 1987 bb king lucille en cherry red , the owner doesnt know anything about the pickups, except they are stock on the guitar, he is the first and only owner.

so my question is: what are the stock pickups on a 87 lucille?

thanks!

I think that they are Bill Lawrence designed printed circuit board hums. HB-R and HB-L

I would bet that he had a 490r in the neck and a 498t in the bridge of his Gibson Lucille !

Slightly off topic, I am adverse to Nashville bridges, did they ever do a run of Lucilles with an ABR?

Difficult to tell without opening the guitar. '87 is well into the guitar trader (and others) re-issue era so it might be either late shaw design or early re-issue PAFs, they're listed as '59 re-issue pickups... In the '91 catalogue the Lucille has the pickups listed as 1R-4 and 1L-6.

I also prefer an ABR bridge so when I had a Lucille, I got a gold ABR and modded it a bit to make it fit the nashville studs.

Does it have dot markers? Mine is a bit earlier and it had patent number pups. I am not the original owner.

My 87 ES-335 has Tim Shaws, so it is definitely possible to have them on an 87, although they were being phased out in favor of the Lawrence pickups around this time.
