• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I too am a fleck aficionado!! I don't really like curly maple tops without it.

Actually, that's not true...I just like me some flecks!

Frank, if one day you have the crazy thought of selling that one, please provide me the opportunity... I'd give it a great home!

Thanks, Ian. I will definitely keep you in mind!

It´s nice to have so many potential buyers for my R9 gathered in a single place.
Unfortunately it is not for sale and I can not really see me parting with it in the future. However, nothing is carved in stone so I will most certainly keep that in mind.

Fortunately I´m in the good situation where I don´t have to sell a guitar to get a new one - unless my wife commands it, and that is certainly negotiable. :D

Beautiful Olli

Tell us the story of how you acquired this beauty? Good weight? Tone monster? 07 R9??

I´ll be glad to do so.
Not a big story though.

I bought a 58 reissue unseen from a dealer near Frankfurt and after a few weeks (2 or 3) I felt the need for a 59 Reissue. I guess it´s the fault of me hanging out in these internet forums :wah . I checked with the same dealer and judging from pictures only I had set my mind on buying a nice 2007 Lemondrop R9. I drove there on a Friday after work to pick it up and the guy practically forced me into A/B ing it with the 2007 iced tea R9. In the end I found the iced tea one to be much more resonant and with better unplugged tone, ring and sustain. The neck pickup has a sound I have not heard before - can´t really describe it. The sound and resonance were what made me buy it in the end rather than taking the Lemondrop. I liked the color too, but the flecks and the grain were something I only really noticed when I brought her home. I knew in the shop that I really liked the top better but I didn´t really know why, at the time I bought it.

:lol

That's a beauty, Olli... I'll bet it sounds good with a tall glass of Koepf or Heubacher on the amp too!! :salude

Thanks for the nice comments on Scarface. :salude
I have always liked the mineral streaked tops and it sounds as vintage as it looks. I have the pleasure of playing out live with it in the nicer venues.

Michael is a friend of mine, and we've shared the bill on a few stages! He's a great player. He also occasionally subs at one of my house gigs! Last time he subbed he did a killer surf melody on that exact guitar, and a small little AER 60 amp.

The lack of pics due to old broken links in this thread is underwhelming.

But if a super flecked historic exists, it should be called the Danny Trejo burst.
