• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Big Al and I are laughing uncontrollably now!

And I LOVE me some mineral flecks/streaks...

They are cool as hell and I own several guitars with them but:

Back in the 50's, 60's, and 70's mineral streaks, flecks, spots, etc. were considered "blemishes".

A piece of wood or the guitar it was on were considered "less than A grade" if they were present.

They do make a piece look "older" as they were very present back then as they had no where near the selection of wood they have now so they had fewer choices.

I used to spend hours in the lumber yards looking for those with no flecks or streaks.

Just a little history for you young 'uns.

I am happy that they now are not only accepted, but desired.

The "If I only knew then what I know now" department.

I coulda been RICH!

And just so you know, if this were an actual 58 or 59 and it was sitting next to a plain top in a music store back in the 60's through the 80's it probably would not have sold no matter how good it sounded.

Skidmark, proof "old guys change their minds too"

I noticed Bloomfield’s burst had quite a few mineral streaks! A thing of beauty tho. With or without the streaks!
