• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What were you doing at 11 years old?

Bought my first crappy acoustic guitar and engraved my initials SH on the top.
First year at high school and listening to The Beatles mainly, bought my first albums(one or two) as I recall.
This first year at college lead to a lifelong journey in music and sport as it's turned out.

Wow you were in high school when you were 11? If you don’t mind me asking how many grades did you skip. That’s pretty impressive!

Down here in NZ at private schools(paid for by your parents, not a Govt funded school) we can start college(high school to you guys) in what we used to call Form 1 and go through to Form 6 with the option to do another year in what was called Upper 6 if you passed all your University qualification exams. So a possible 7 years in total, leaving college at age 17-18.
For those at public schools(Govt funded) they start college at what was called Form 3 at age 13. These days they're called Year 7(Form 1) and Year 9(Form 3) going up to Year 13 to finish.

Oh, ok. So it's basically similar to the US where the average student graduates at 17/18. I thought maybe you were an incredibly gifted student to graduate six years early. Thanks for explaining :)

When I was 11 years old, I was mostly going to school and started collecting records. The first album I ever purchased was Gaucho by Steely Dan.

I was building model kits and working on a train layout. I was just starting to get an interest in music after watching the neighbor’s garage band. I was mesmerized by the blue sparkle drum kit. I made drums from cardboard boxes and cymbals from the large red plates of my Erector set.

I was preparing to launch my book of 2 pages written by myself. However, my mother was always insistent when concerning my studies. So, she brought me many teachers at home for supplementary courses. I dedicated all my childhood to the learning process. It became much easier when I discovered https://essays.edubirdie.com/do-my-assignment for getting help with my homework and essays. The service's experts could do my assignment for me, which was a real revelation since I began having free time for my hobby - cooking. In a nutshell, it doesn't count to work much, but reasonably.

I was into my 5th season of playing football, my 1st year of playing cello, and fondly checking out the many cute girls.

Someone already said this, but smoking weed and playing guitar. I'm thankful that I got the weed thing out of my system early. I became infatuated with the guitar at a very early age, probably 5 or 6, Hermans Hermits opened up a new world for me. House Of The Rising Sun was the first song I learned. I was never very good, but I never lost the passion, I just learned to accept my limitations.

It was 1965 in So Cal. I was listening to the radio, playing Beatles records and baseball in that order. I had a Stella but only strummed it a bit; no knowledge developed at that point. And going to the beach in summer.
Started out with this gem.

Playing keyboard. Started playing guitar the next year after I got a strat and a little magnatone which caught on fire on my third ever gig. A volunteer firefighter threw a bucket of water on it and that was the end of her life.
