What year is this Goldtop?

A buddy of mine showed up with this Goldtop at the jam session. He says it's a 59 but from the serial number I'm not sure. What year is it?

Wide binding in the cutaway is the best giveaway and I see a pancake body , 1970 goldtop.

It looks like the edges of the headstock were sanded down, and not equal from the looks of the pic. Damn near to the size of a melody maker it appears.

I can't imagine what happened to it to require that.

"circumcised" headstock. too narrow and wrong shape.
