Hey guys, i was wondering which pickup currently made (custom or not) has the least 'coloring effect' on your guitar. like when you play your guitar unamplified, which pickup would pick up your natural guitar sound without altering it? thanks

I see Bill is also bringing on his own line of "low capacitance, solderless connection" cables.

I think Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro's are very transparent.

EVH always potted his PAF pickups back in the day, and its rumored his sound was OK. ;)

EVH also screwed them directly to the guitar body. I guess that is the ultimate way to get the acoustic sound from an electric guitar.

An unpotted pickup sounds more natural to me than a potted pickup. If the goal is to get a pickup that keeps the vibe of the guitar played acoustically the extra microphonics of an unpotted pickup will deliver that. Remember that big bucks vintage PAF's and P90's are unpotted. Potting a pickup is an easy quick way to make sure your pickup does not feedback. It also sucks some of the mojo out of the pickup. If wound correctly feedback is a non issue with an unpotted pickup.
