• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Got to say when she reached for the volume it gave me a quiver. I love it when youre listening to a solo and right when you think "they need to adjust the tone" they do it.

I envision, a petite girl, maybe 5' tall, with long curly blonde pigtails, playing a big Gretsch White Falcon, and ... :hee

Great track.

What guitar is Susan Playing on this number? Looks kinda like a Les Paul, but not one I'm familiar with, with that headstock and TR cover.

To me, that guitar looks like a D'Angelico - take a good look at the headstock

D'Aquisto.

D'Angelico never built a solid body guitar (well, not a standard six string anyway)

Nope, it's a (New) D'Angelico:

D'Angelico's name is being used on new guitars inspired by his work. This one's called the NYSD-9 as far as I can tell from Google.

Hope that link is okay... From the price I'd guess it's made overseas.

Girls on bursts is not a new concept. June Millington in the early 70's.

And she is still playing it.

I stand corrected! :wah
I wasn't aware that new reproductions of an axe that never existed (hey, it happens... a lot!) were available.

Still, I guess it's a pretty guitar, and some of the import stuff is pretty good after all.

I don;t want to derail this thread any further....
BUT,
If you live in the NYC area, there is currently a VERY VERY GOOD exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art featuring the work of D'Angelico and D'aquisto, with a very healthy dose of guitar history added - including a guitar made some 350 years ago by no less than ANTONIO STRADIVARI.

VERY DEFINITELY worth the price of admission!!!!!!

You have no idea how much I want to go to that exhibit... I get a little sad every time I go through the exhibit pages on the Met's website. They've got Steve Millers three D'Aquisto solidbodys as well as a the original Blue Guitar made for Scott Chinnery. I got to see that guitar way back at the original Blue Guitar exhibit at the Smithsonian. It blew my mind and is the reason I'm taking up guitar building. Unfortunately the wife and I just moved so money's a little tight for comfort :/

Oh! I read some where that there's only four of the those Stadivaris in existence. I got to see one (maybe the same one???) at the "Dangerouys Curves: The Art of the Guitar" exhibit at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Unfortunately I was a hard-core electric guy at that point and don't remember it (or the D'Aquistos that were there)!

Mmmm - hate to be critical as I respect her but not one of her better nights.....
If I played like that with my band they would probably ask what substance I was on and can I have some.......:lol
