I always liked the names Mapleglo, Fireglo, Autumnglo, Sprakleglo, Silverglo and Jetglo and found them unique. But I always wondered who was in charge of naming them those finishes instead of black, blonde and sunburst? My guess is that it was Adolph Rickenbacker because he was known to have a sense of humor whenever he made his guitars.
I always preferred the solid body Rickenbacker over the hollow body Rickenbacker. My friend says that Fireglo sounds like the name of a cleaning agent.
But if anyone knows I would like to understand. Rickenbacker makes great guitars, as favored by The Beatles, The Byrds, The Who, Geddy Lee of Rush, Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles, Joe Walsh and others.
And if anyone is interested, please check out the Rickenbacker book Out Of The Frying Pan Into The Fireglo, a detailed history of the Rickenbacker, which is out now. Thanks
