• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Why, why, why...

Ugh...

The PB Classic is NOT a good case for a poor relic job, IMO.

Mine actually came as the best fit n' finish I've gotten from Gibson, and I only want honest wear. And someday, a greenish hue.

This... is just not right.

Makes me want to puke........ I hope he has to live with that forever. That is just trashing a good Gibson.

At the asking price I think the seller is destined to have it forever. For $500 I'd buy it then have it refined.

Why, if professional relic jobs seldom look real, do people think that a DIY relic job is a good idea???

It's been my experience that people who do a DIY relic job think they did a very good job (this is coming from people I know in person, not people trying to sell a guitar with a bad DIY relic job).

The only good relic jobs are the ones that result from a couple decades of playing the guitar.

I gigged a mid 80's american standard tele full time for 25 years. When I sold it it looked like the day I bought it. Theres no relicing those thick poly finishes. I much prefer the look of my journey man relic Fenders. And now that I gig maybe 10-15 times a year thats the only relic I'll have. I dont mind the shiny finish on my les paul standard 50's. Its so purty it looks good that way.

Where’s the relic job on the case? I was looking for that.

Then there’s “the frets are incredible.” Yeah, that should sell the guitar…….

I'm not a fan of relics because so many are artificial looking. Fender put out a run for a while of Strat, Tele, PB, and JB. Every JB had the same pattern. Every Strat had the same pattern....etc.

Some guitarists really like the played-in feel. It's a matter of feel and taste. But it's also the way fora and "custom shops" make a Holy Grail of everything "vintage."

Well the Fender product did not look as bad as this Les Paul does. Fender actually studies real world worn-in guitars before making a new one look reliced. This guy actually managed to destroyed any value his work would have produced. He is going to take a big hit on this one. = less Moosehead Lager for him.

I have a very early relic'd '63 Strat' from Bill Nash in a faded PB, and it's the best feeling Strat I own.

Fake is fake. I mostly don't like this kinda thing. Really don't care for most, no matter how "real" or fake they appear.

That said, so what??? There are a whole lotta folks spending a whole bunch of dough for these brand new fake ass worn out beat to hell rusty dusty musty crusty trusty ol' phoney maroney road warrior wannabe gig relics that never gigged so they can pretend in their fake ass phoney koowel make believe dream world. Hell, it's trending. Manufactured mojo virtual vibe phoney funk is viral with the hipsters.

But, so what?? It ain't for me and old beat to shit worn out, (but not the frets), rode hard and put away wet is not a desirable state. I know, I am and fellas and gals I can say in all honesty, IT FLIPPIN SUCKS!!! But there are them that just like it, and brother they are welcome to it. Different strokes.

Different strokes is right! If you don’t dig relics don’t buy them. I use to not care for them but that was because I did not own one and just did not like them for Heaven knows what reason. However, after purchasing a few well done relics, I now get it. It’s OK if you don’t like relics, I get that too. Yeah, different strokes!
