• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I’ve never really got the whole “vintage burst” thing.. but..

.. I now get it..
the passion, history and possession of vintage gear.. and in part being on the LPF and hearing all your stories and pictures.. I feel the need to aspire to a vintage SG or 335.. I know I’ll never be able to afford such a thing.. but aspiring to one can’t hurt (much)

.. and Joe inspires me to own a small piece of history too

I held the opinion for a long long time, most of my life, that vintage was the be all and end all. However that changed over the last 2 + decades as I got into the vintage gear(guitars and amps) and also played the new Historic offerings from Gibson.
It would be nice to own an old LP, 335 etc but I would have had to have bought one many years ago, they increase in value exponentially.

I did buy a vintage Ludwig drum kit, which served me very well and is now worth way more than what I paid.. so I’m not opposed to vintage gear.. all my amps are “vintage” (70/80) but when it comes to guitars.. I’ve always thought that a newer guitar would outlast and out perform a vintage option and was always under the impression that newer guitars have to be better in construction/parts etc ? Even up to the point of buying Gibson’s around 3 years ago.. nothing was older than 2003.. and with the SG and LP being very modern (21/22) I couldn’t fault their construction and performance. They are perfect..
I do wish to add the TH LP at one point as I feel this would tick the “vintage” box..
I even played a vintage 335 (59) at Ghrun’s and thought.. it was shit. (lol) and way preferred my modern iterations.

But the allure of a real vintage Gibson has grown..

I have been influenced..
