• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I swear.. everything has become f…ing useless.. no one seems to take ownership of their job anymore..
customer service is literally their job.. given their business model is “the middle man” !!?
I can imagine how frustrating this is for you..
but now you’ve highlighted their incompetence.. hopefully it’ll get sorted..

Agreed. Reverb claims to have such stellar customer support but to be honest I could see the potential for much more support coming from a ~50 year old used bra that is beyond worn out.
I'm sure if Reverb was one individual that person wouldn't know how to wipe their own ***.
Now, besides having an issue with a Reverb seller that is either (1) too ignorant to know what they list on Reverb (2) just an out & out fraud, now I have to find out from the Reverb Customer Support people why they (also) have their heads up their ***.

I'm gonna put this experience under the file "You Can't Make This **** Up" and just leave it in some other persons filing system .......

You could do a charge back with your cc company.

However, that will be a miserable experience, too.

Did Reverb wash their hands of the matter or are they going to try to make good?

They have too..right? 🤔
it’s part of their T&Cs .. and as I’m aware.. and Bursty contacted the seller in good time (a few days I think) so its well within the timeline for returns..

I have done chargebacks aka disputes and it's not a huge deal IMO; it just takes a bit of time

Reverb finally opened a ticket today that allows the transaction to go to their Resolutions Team; only 8 days after they said the same thing last week

Reverb now says (again) they will be reviewing the transaction and contacting both parties; we shall see

I have read through Reverb's terms of use which is the typical legalese mumbo jumbo BS

The MES1 was delivered on March 11 and I notified the seller the next day with a request to return the guitar so, I was within the Reverb policy 7 day window to notify the seller and/or Reverb with issues

I have been in contact with Deviser to potentially acquire a new set of Beano pickups for the MES1, just in case I end up keeping the guitar.
I have been presented by Deviser with an invoice that includes the cost of the Beano pickup set and the cost of shipping to the US.
Those folks at Deviser are some pretty cool cats.

still, no word from Reverb ........

does Reverb really have that many ****ed up transactions to where they need to be escalated to customer support for being a referee and an arbitrator?

Even though I have been selling guitars on Reverb for the better part of the past decade my opinion now is do NOT purchase any guitar on Reverb.
That's the way that place is now; worthless.

Sorry to hear this still hasn’t been sorted.. and I share your opinion that it’s no surprise..
I’ve only bought one guitar off Reverb and that was via Gibson.. other than that I doubt I will .. and this goes for eBay as well .. too many fakes and con artists now..

unfortunately there are plenty of lazy pup swappers that will snip the leads ..and especially on a closed back f-hole model

yeah, I see what you're talkin' 'bout ...... I wouldn't have any problem with a 1959 ES-335 with the PAFs removed and the leads cut down to 3 inches.

Not a problem at all ..................

On a used guitar, as long as I was aware the pickups were what they were it would bug me a bit but it's a fix many can perform so I'd just eat it and have the leads swapped. Vintage isn't exactly a fair comparison.

However, the guy listed the guitar as "Mint" and said he "took it to his tech for a pickup upgrade." That's a misrepresentation IMO and he should take it back. Even if a guitar is pretty clean I always list it below the actual condition. I got a custom made V once, great guitar, but the small volute on it had the paint totally cracked in that sensitive area. Guy was like "oh my tech said it's good so I just forgot about it." Nonsense, dude wanted to make the sale and avoided an obvious issue. Didn't escalate it because the guitar was awesome.

Also, before Etsy bought it, talking to someone knowledgeable at Reverb was a breeze. Great customer service. Good things like that don't often last.

Why not just send the pickups to a good winder for new leads, should be a lot less frustration and you know you like the guitar.

Well, I didn't go looking for a 'project' when looking at a listing that used the terms new and mint in the item description.

I assumed the seller (1) knew what they had (2) were honest, but that didn't turn out to be the case.

As far as liking the guitar I haven't played a single note on it. The seller was jumping up and down screaming about withholding part and/or all of any potential refund if I return the guitar with any damage, which is a bit strange since that during his ownership of the guitar not one but both pickup sets were rendered completely useless in any other guitar.

I told that ***hole that his irony meter really must go to 11 .......
