9s or 10s on your Les Paul?

10-46 on my Les Pauls. Better tone, right amount of “give” but not so much as to lose tone. Sometimes for a looser feel I mess with stop bar pressure and/or adjustments to bridge thumbwheels, to get some fingerings easier on the unwound strings.

11's top wrapped. I'm not doing heavy metal so I don't need the tight bottom of light strings. 11's keep the feel but top wrapping keeps them slinky.

10-38. I use them on Les Paul, and Strat.

I tried 12-58, and did more damage to my frets in 6 months, than I had done, in the previous 10.

Ive got the finger strength, but its murder on the frets, and I found no sonic improvement.

10's. At one point I was up to 12's, but got tendonitis in my left hand/wrist from bending those suckers. Went back to 10's. If my arthritis get much worse, I may have to run 9's in the future, but for now I can still play 10's OK. If it gets to the point I can't play 9's, then it's time to hang it up and start playing shuffleboard.

Getting ready to put some 10's on my 2013 Studio. Been using 9's or 9.5-44's on it for years, but recently put some 10's on my Melody Maker Special and liked them on that guitar. Let's see how they work on the LP..

10s is the sweet spot for a LP in standard tuning. Thicker and you miss the twang, thinner feel too loose.

All my guitars are 10s unless the guitar is set up for slide. My les Paul Supreme has 9s because I bought one set of Optima gold strings for it and that was all they had left at Elderly for $9.95. ( I suppose it was a closeout)

11-48/11-52 for the Fender guitars.

I do tune down a step on the Fenders.

The only strings I use. I get them from a cool member here, Toneman. (not to be confused with some other site that calls themselves Toneman.)

I use D'Addario EXL110s which is a .010 - .046 set on all of my ~40 electric guitars; no exceptions and I have a ton of Strats too

I do this for multiple reasons but the two most important (to me) are
(1) when every guitar has the same string set one can better judge playability one guitar to the next
(2) buying 25 sets at a time is the most economical way to go; ~40 guitars could eat a lot of stings in short order .......

Does anyone here know why the same gauge strings might feel stiffer on my newly acquired R9 as compared to my two LP standards? I have been using Ernie Ball Hybrid slinkys (9 to 46) for years and they felt very good to me on my standards. I got this R9 a couple of weeks ago and it feels stiffer and I have noticed my fingers getting a bit more sore, and I play every day for at least an hour. I measured the action and they are all very close, so just wondering why it feels different. I am considering doing a hybrid of 8s for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and 9s for the 4th 5th and 6th.
