Faber ABRH-1

I ordered one of these and it's for my 3 pup LP Custom with Bigsby. I couldn't be happier with this product. I admit I ordered it because of Don Butler's recommendation. Hey, they don't call him 'Toneman' for nothing. Anyway, I've had others, Pigtail, Gibson, Creamtone and so on. All good, all a bit different. I'll never buy one fm anyone else but Faber in the future. Personally I really didn't think it would make that big of a difference, I just wanted quality, and no rattling, the fact that the saddles (it's a non wire) won't fall out is a plus. There is actually a noticeable difference unplugged, I mean not huge, but noticeable. The whole guitar just sounds better and feels better. Anybody looking to replace and ABR type bridge should check these out. They make everything, standard, metric, Nashville etc. Call me satisfied!

Thanks gmann!! I have replaced 5 bridges with the Faber's! Thrilled is an understatement! I think they're the best sounding bridge made these days. My Historic ABR-1's all sounded a bit banjo-y.. now the warm, fat and clear as a bell!

If I can ask which one(s) of these 4 options, are all 5 the same e.g. gloss one, nickel plated saddles?

Obviously there might be some difference in tone, e.g. aged might have a bit less top end, bare brass saddles might have more pronounced mids than nickel plated
saddles (just a guess), so did you have a chance to test different variants of these 4 in the link in the same guitar. Also, did you have a chance to compare it to patent number ABR-1 with brass saddles (chrome plated) in the same guitar?

I am asking because of the mixed experience I've had with Faber parts, tone-wise : IME, aluminum tailpiece and bushings are dull sounding, tailpiece studs are very good and brass thumbwheels are the clear winner and my favorite among 7 or 8 different current production brass thumbwheels. I just wonder if the bridge has those choked/dampened highs ...

I am aware that every ear is different but I would like to know your impressions, as I agree with you on vintage TP studs that no modern studs are like vintage ones (and I have tried them all), simply too bright caused by higher % of Carbon in alloy. Thanks for your time.

I have the aged nickel with plain brass saddles, no notches. I have a gold one on my R-7 Custom, 3-pickup.

I got an aged gold one with brass saddles and no notches. I put it on my 3 pup Custom with a Bigsby. It rings like an acoustic unplugged.

I have the Faber on my R7. I tried several saddle combos before settling on titanium under the EAD, and brass under the GBe.

I replaced Nashville bridges with the locking nickel FABER ABRs with (plain brass saddles) on (2) Heritage H150s, and (1) Gibson and they sound great on all of them. I love the locking bridge when it's time for string changes as everything stays put!
