Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
A '59 Melody Maker will NOT take a standard P90 without removing a little wood for it to fit. Lollar makes a slightly smaller P90 that will fit in the MM route without modification.
I agree with the above. Don't screw up an original. There are plenty of modded ones out there.
I have a friend with a 2019 60th R9 and a 2020 R9. The 60th has the Carmelita neck carve which has less shoulder than what I have typically encountered on R9s over the years. The 2020 does not have the same neck carve and is not quite and thick from front to back and has more shoulder. The 2020...
The seller says these tuners are original. I have never seen black tuner buttons on a vintage Gibson. Here's a link to the eBay auction:

The price is a bit too high for me, but I was curious about...
Got one of the new reissue Melody Makers. I'm probably going to route it for a humbucker, but I'd like to hold on to the original pickguard. Does Gibson sell a replacement? Any other ideas where I can find a suitable replacement?
I have a 2003 LP Standard with the stock BB Pro pickups. Overall, I like the tone of the BB Pros, but I am noticing a lack of clarity and crispness on the E and A strings with both the bridge and neck pickup. I had the opportunity to compare my guitar with a friend's R9 with 57 Classics. His...
I came across a good deal on a Gary Moore LP so I thought I'd give it a try. Since I've never owned a LP I can't say whether this is a good one or not. Initially, I like the tones and the guitar plays fairly well but it needs some minor set up work. The pots are definitely crap - no taper at...
I'm still trying to learn as much as I can about Gibson and the various LP models available. I've got a line on a used plaintop '58 Historic for about the same price as a new Standard Premium Plus. I've only played two standards but I have never had a chance to play a 58 Historic. Here's a...
Actually I played two last night; one with the 50's neck profile and one with the 60's.
I have just started looking for my first LP (thanks for all the helpful suggestions from this Forum about where to start) and these two were the first I tried. As a 20 year Strat player, let me say that...
This is my first post here and I'm a Les Paul virgin thinking about buying my first one. I love the '59 Historic, but that is out of my current budget. I'm looking in the under $2000 price range and I prefer to buy used. I'm a little confused with all the models available..... Here's what I...
