THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING!
We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and recently moved to a new hosting platform. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
Please support our Les Paul Forum Sponsors with your business - Gary's Classic Guitars, Wildwood Guitars, Chicago Music Exchange, Reverb.com, Throbak.com and True Vintage Guitar. From personal experience doing business with all of them, they are first class organizations. Thank you!
It’s a weird one. It doesn’t appear that there was plate tuners like a jr. But the pickup cavities don’t look factory. If it was a special it would have neck binding. Strange
Everything is relative. The bodies should be the same. Manufacturing separate size bodies wouldn’t be efficient. Nothing is exact I have two sixties SGs that are not the same thickness.
I kinda cheated here is my 1966 melody maker. I had it renecked using the original board but now has wider nut and binding. When I did it they were pretty cheap and it had neck issues.
Remember this tulip shape was in 1957 the teisco guitars were from the sixties. In another thread here a Gibson employee talks about other drawings they had for acoustics even earlier (talk about crazy) I think it’s cool and I like the way they aged it.
