THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING!
We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and recently moved to a new hosting platform. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
Please support our Les Paul Forum Sponsors with your business - Gary's Classic Guitars, Wildwood Guitars, Chicago Music Exchange, Reverb.com, Throbak.com and True Vintage Guitar. From personal experience doing business with all of them, they are first class organizations. Thank you!
I have a new gold Bigsby tailpiece I would like to have relic’d to match my heavily worn ‘73 LP Custom. Has anyone had recent experience with service providers or recommendations for where to go to get it done “correctly”? I understand that some of the ageing processes come out more...
If you’ve been following the release and reveal on the new PRS DGT SE model, I got one last week and I can vouch that the hype is real. If I can figure out how to upload some pics and video I will, but you won’t regret picking one up if you’re in the market. The trem action is very cool (between...
For what it’s worth, if you’re going to replace one pot, you might just do all of them and keep the original wiring harness in one piece. You might decide to put it back in for some reason down the line. Once you start parting the harness out, putting it back together gets complicated, as in...
I tune to D and generally use 11-49 or D’Addario balanced tension 11-50, and on occasion I use a 12 set. Setup wise you should only need a minor truss rod adjustment if that, unless your nut slots need to be widened.
Those Fender Rumbles are pretty impressive for gigs, too. I run an Ampeg through a Traynor 6x10” and that works pretty well for what I do around the house.
This is true. I would like to keep a Super D in a Les Paul but I would need another one (darn) for that purpose. One of the best pickups I’ve heard was a soap bar sized Super D in a LP Special. It did it all, really well. That might be what I would look for after I get caught up from holiday...
Fralin does great work, but Tom Brantley does equally great work for a better price. I agree that finding and repairing a busted T-Top is a service to the world.
Has anybody had any experiences with the Seymour Duncan custom shop Eclair pickup set? They look interesting on paper, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of lore out there about them.
I just got a Tru-Fi Two Face Fuzz and it is truly fantastic with any of my LPs, but is really magic for me with P90s. That said I’ve been using a Zendrive with P90s for years and its been my go to for OD. I can confirm that SD-1 also works great.
