Anyone else pulling their hair out trying to order a Calton flight case?

I can't hardly believe the ordeal this company is putting me through. Anyone else having issues getting their case or an answer from these guys? I ordered a supposedly already built case for my 335. It was supposed to ship the very next day as it was already built but abandoned by the...

    Gord Miller - 335 Makeover

Hey all, Thought I'd share some shots of my recent refinish/makeover from Gord Miller. Although he did'nt do some of what I was after originally, I wound up with a really nice refinish on my 2005 Historic 59 Dot. The pups are both PAF's with o.g. centralab pots and bumblebees. The pickguard...

Just bought the Stew-Mac Neck Relief Guage.. but?

Hi Dan, I just bought the Stew-Mac Neck relief guage. It sounded perfect as there are so many factors to consider when taking this reading...(especially for a layman like myself) However, most information on neck relief relates to the 7th, 8th frets... And the gauge only measures relief at...

Can anyone identify this original wiring?

Hi, This is an original harness from a 61 L-5. I noticed the wiring on the tone pots are different from each other? This is all original soldering. Anyone have a clue why this was done? What did it achieve? It looks like 50's wiring for the neck pickup, and the bridge tone pot is wired...

Not very happy with Gibson right now....

Okay, so I have a late fifties ES-175D that badly needs a new toggle switch rubber grommet. Yep, we've all seen em. The exact same one that comes on BRAND NEW archtops from Gibson. Probably an $11.00 part factoring in tooling etc.. I sent them an extremely thoughtful and praising email...

    Sticky neck?

Anyone else have an R9 2009 with a perpetually sticky neck? The lacquer just sucks is my only guess? I've cleaned it and wiped it down many a time to no avail... I dont remember my historic 335's feeling like this ever. Am I alone in this observation of 2009's???? :wah

Aerosmith, Phil Jones? Joe Perry Tone Clinic...

I was reading a thread and researching work done by Phil Jones of the Gibson Custom Shop. I just saw Aerosmith here in Honolulu from some unbelievable 2nd row seats. My girlfriend manned the digital camera and got this killer shot of Perry and his "Baywatch Babe" custom Lucille model...

    Mixing/Matching p/ups?

Hello all! Does anyone know of any reason why you shouldn't mix 2 different manufacturers p/ups on the same guitar? The ones in question are all PAF replica's within the same general family of pickups. Example: Bareknuckle Mule Alnico IV Bridge / Sheptone Blue Sky Alnico IV Neck...

Anyone know about these "flatwound" strings?

Howzit! Anyone heard of these? I was told that "Monel" is a form of metal? Never heard of it.... [/IMG]

Hello everyone, I was wondering if I could start this thread to find all the possibilities of great sounding FLATWOUND strings currently in production at this time? Please feel free to post any comments you have on your favorites either factual OR legend... I'm personally/currently using...

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has had the chance to try this new pedal out??? Thanks, J

    The Throbaks really are killer!

Recently I've been switching out a bunch of different pickups on my Tal Farlow Historic and looking for a pickup that gets really PAF-like(compressed and Fat) with a lot of bounce. The kind of bounce that actually makes you play better... That at least is what i call the PAF sound. I put in...

Vintage LP knobs vs. Repro's vs.... what color were they!

Hi all, I thought for sure someone here could set me straight on these... I'm currently trying to restore my 59 es-175DN to original, so I just scrounged up (2) 50's LP knobs that seem really amber colored compared to the rest of the repro knobs on the market. I unfortunately don't have much...

Has anyone ever heard of or done business with...

Lakeshore Guitars in Michigan. I have a guitar on hold with them, but I've never heard of them. The only point is that he does not accept Paypal, CC's, only bank wire transfers.. and he's concerned about people returning guitars at 30 days with Paypal. I personally have never heard of...
