But the statement
"There are around 1,800+ sunburst Les Paul Standards made from mid 1958 until mid 1960"

does not hold water, and Carter's should know that, -unless they have found 300+ bursts not accouned for yet?!

The exact shipping totals for the Burst period are known and has been public knowledge for the last 40+ years.
From these figures we can conclude that Gibson made at the very most 1500 Bursts from 1958-60. And that's an optimistic
view IMO. Don't want to be more pedantic than necessary, but I hate it when these Burst numbers are grossly incorrectly stated by dealers as prestigious as Carter's.

Yeah and as a witty guy (not me) once said, approx. 1500 Bursts were made, but only 2000 has been accounted for...

Wrong again, mr. Bohannon. The moniker "clown burst" came because of the 1970's Norlin era sunburst Les Pauls.

Beautiful guitar! Too bad about the neck. I wonder if "Butt Crack burst" would be more apropos?
