• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Upgrading the electronics on my R7, and looking for the best available pots.
It's been a while since I've used the Dimarzio, but remember liking them.
Have some VIPots in another Historic and they seems nice too (although they've become a little scratchy and need a spray of deoxit)
Anyone directly compared these two?
Anything better out there worth considering?

Are you looking for that quick “vintage” taper or a more gradual one??

The dimarzio cts pots have always been pretty decent. I've been using TAOT the art of tone pots on the guitars I’ve been building and they’re totally good. My favorite so far has been the Emerson’s. Super smooth with a gradual taper.

How do all of these compare to the new historic pots?

My old les paul has rsguitarworks super pots, but those are not available now. I feel like my 2020 historic knocks off the gain much faster and is less even, but trying to get used to it. Are the VI’s similar to the new historics?
