When I was a teen, I wanted an ES-335... until I played one and realized how big they were. I wound up with a 1967 SG Special (which I still have). Gibson was not making Les Paul models then... and used ones were already pricey. Got a nice deal on a new 2021 Les Paul Standard '60s with a plain top. Once I get my preferred strings on it, I'm going to love it more than I already do.

Yes, I've changed the pickguard and installed straplocks on it. I may remove the "Rhythm/Lead" disk like I did on my SG. Soon it will feel like an old friend whom I can have wonderful conversations.

Welcome and congrats on a nice red one!

Don't forget the ES-339 and ES-Pauls are out there to give you an approximation of the ES-3x5 semi-hollow tone with a reduced body size. Try one next!

Beautiful! Like the saying goes, find a nice Les Paul and marry it.

In addition to the pearl pickguard change, I subbed cream control knobs, rotated the pickup switch, replaced the poker chip with one reding NECK and BRIDGE, and changed stings to the wound 3rd flatwounds I prefer. I love the playability and tone.
