That's BURL, from the stump or lowest area, often large ball shaped tumor looking outgrowth. Not used historicly on Gibsons so not typical for Historics. Could be custom order select one off kinda deal, if you like that.

One of the 52-59 conversions I did in the 70's had a very similar crazy blister top with a perfect grain matched seam between the controls for a top that looked to be one piece. Looked a lot like burl, but was a wild blister.

There were many, more intense wild tops pre 2000.

Hierbas is the color of yellow he uses; Hierbas Yellow Burst. It means herbs in Spanish.

Nik Huber makes some very, very nice guitars but that one isn't my style. I'd take a decent blister top over that any day.

It is certainly striking. Awesome is an overused term but apt here. Not sure I want it on the top of one of my guitars though......might take the attention away from my playing........ha ha...

Some of us would consider that a bonus... anything to take away attention from our playing.
This one is crazy enough that it almost doesn't look real, at least in the photos. Wonder how 3-d it looks in person.
