• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Is Eric Johnson a liar?

The first few times I saw Eric "John" Stone, I thought Melissa Etheridge had taken some guitar lessons. They could be brother and sister.

No kiddin'! He changes to those chords on a dime, too! That man has spent serious time with a guitar in his hands, and it shows.
Absolutely, you don't get that good without serious woodshedding. Playing all those complex chords while singing and not even looking at the neck. That impresses me more than his lead playing.

Saw him live in Boston probably 4-5 years ago, he did the complete Venus Isle album and many cuts the tones and ah via musicom albums… he was using a Marshall head, 2 Fender twins and a Two Rock head and his pedalboard was the usual suspects including a fuzz face, BK Butler tube driver, TC Stereo Chorus flange, EH memory man and a tape echoplex as well as a few others (I was lucky enough to get to chat with him after the show and he graciously invited me to peruse his set up.. such a kind soul and humble and yes a gearhead at heart always searching for that elusive tone like so many of us…his tone was superb live that night and his band was kicking… The Wilbur is a great venue and he has played there many times over the years, his small acoustic and piano set was also amazing…
