Hi I’ve got a new 2024 LP Standard 50s P90.

There are some glue or nitro spots close to the binding, but that doesn’t bother me. Should it?

Also, the main problem:
I have strange line spots in 35% fretboard wood, and I have a question- what’s that? Should I return it? How can I fix it? Photos has been taken 2 days after lemon oil cleaning. Is looks like very dry wood with rare texture, when I try to scratch this by guitar pick, a little of lemon oil comes outside the wood.

Never seen that before unless someone was TRYING to make it look worn.
I wouldn't worry about it, though.
Just do with the guitar what it was intended to do, and everything will be fine.

Every piece if rosewood is unique. It is definitely light but does not look like an issue other than the color. YMMv

Ok but how about texture of the wood? These light color spots are rought and not smooth as the rest of fretboard.

OK I zoomed in a saw something more than the usual rosewood pores going on, but I don't know exactly what I am seeing ... like micro-grains or threads of something with whitish hue. Inherent to the wood or rough patches with whatever residual treatment, I cannot say.

Did you condition it with the lemon oil only? or thoroughly clean it first?

And do you love everything else about it enough to go about working on it? Does is really bother or interfere with playing?

Ordered online or local dealer? If that much is rough maybe see what they say first...

i’ve ordered it online. It was mint new unboxed. I did only one lemon oil treatment after unboxing- put the oil on fretboard, left it for 3 mins and cleaned it. These colour got darker but after one day it comes back. In other way, the top is good, sound is good, it’s pretty heavy, it does not disturb me while playing. I just wanted to ask if it’s something very bad issue and should I return it.

Are you certain it's a Gibson?

Every piece of rosewood is indeed unique and only you can decide if you like this particular piece or not… personally, I do not, sorry. Don’t think any amount of conditioning would make that something I wanted on a LP… so it would be a return for me. Just sayin’….

Per post #3 I would not be concerned with this issue if you like everything else about the guitar. It is just that this specific piece of a rosewood has some areas with more porosity. Once you start playing it the surface will smooth out and also darken. I would keep it and enjoy it!

The fingerboard looks as if it needs some more conditioning. It is hard to tell much more from the photos a LOT more playing will eventually darken the board as well as any conditioning you apply. Lemon oil on its own is quite light in oil terms and some rosewood is not as dark as other bits. As long as the board feels good under your fingers and isn’t soft or rubbing away it should be ok.

The main thing is do you like the guitar, buying online when you can’t test a bunch of guitars is a lottery that I have never played and based on experience of buying what I have I will never do because I buy for keeps. Trouble is many decent stores are falling by the wayside and it makes buying much harder.

I got all 5 of my Gibsons from Thomann and they're all amazing. But they have a return policy no questions asked so there's no risk really. I would return it and get one with a better board.
