My 2009 Murphy R9 that has been kept under the bed.

I just pulled my 2009 Murphy R9 from under the bed. I had been told it was damaged from the damp but all seems fine. It was still in tune. The last time I laid eyes on it was at least 8 years ago. It plays beautifully and acoustically has the sound of a Les Paul in the middle position of the pickup selector. If this makes sense. I am pretty sure it is a burnt orange tea burst. It is a beautiful top, however it only seems to pop at certain angles. The fret board has a reddish huewith a few dark streaks running through. I have the feeling of getting a new guitar all over again, and I am kicking myself for not playing it all of these years. I am pretty sure I bought it from someone here around 2009-2010 time frame. I just thought I would share.

btw if you wait a few more years those strings will develope a nice crusty/crustier patina

Oh, but I have been enjoying the sound that crusty patina brings. In a way it is disgraceful leaving it there for so long. However It has been simmering nicely in the crusty string sauce.

I don't think a tetanus shot is going to cure the guilt of leaving this thing abandoned for so long.

Seriously, if the strings are crusty, change them. They'll grind on the frets even worst than Ernie Ball strings. ?

I have a bit to choose from. Les Paul Standard, Old Tele, Rickenbacker 360. I have been very blessed. Time to thin out the herd and just make one or 2 my own. If this makes sense.

Damage from the damp? Care to eleborate? I too lie my R9 under my bed cause the lifton brown case cant stand on its own
