• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hello everybody,
I’m from France and sorry for my English.
I have the opportunity to get a 1966 (Maybe) SG Special by trade. But I have a doubt about the year : the serial number correspond to the year 1966, but not the specs ( large pickguard, neck jonction case). It is possible it’s a late 1966 with 1967 specs ?
I don’t have the knowledge to answer this question…
What do you think when you see the photos ?

The serial Nr can be '66, '67 or '68. The pots (at least the tone pots) were made in 1967. The guitar was made after the pots (if they are originals. Nothing seems to show they are not).
