Yeah, it's been around a while, but this little purple box gets some cool tone going.

Boost, OD, Dist. Take your pick. Nice hair over your guitar. Cool Stuff.

Sure there's boatloads of od and distortion pedals out there. But this one just plain out sounds great. Analog Mike sure made a classic. I got this one from Mike's site. Screw the flippers. Actually, Mike will cancel your order if you order more than two.

I really like this one.

Just wanted to say that. Back into the cave.

OK Carry on.

Agreed. It's a great pedal and for $148, just order it straight from Mike. They're frequently in stock. I did find when A/Bing it against one side of a KOT that it's a skosh different but as delivered it was still very nice, especially with an RC Booster hitting the front of it.

I sent mine off to Justin Butler at Thru-Tone for his "King of Tone" mod. I honestly don't know all the particulars of what he does, but now I can get it to sound identical (at least to my ears) to one side of a KOT. The most noticeable post-mod difference was in the "distortion" mode, but I almost always run mine in "boost" with the gain way up.

Cool, a King of Tone mod

That's the thing about Mike. He put dip switches in there if you need to tweak a little bit to your taste. He actually makes the pedals serviceable and suggests you to try other chips so you can explore a bit.

Double post Hmmm..

OH well..

Here's a sticker he sent me a while back. I put it on the big pedal board road case.

I got a PoT last year. It's a great pedal, and well worth the money. I'd played the Duke a while back, and really liked it, but figured for the extra $20 I'd go for the real deal. I wasn't in any hurry, so on and off I'd go on the Analog site on Wednesday to try to get it. Took a little while, and eventually I got in on time.
Still playing with it, and I'm always amazed at the range of sounds it'll get. Still deciding if I want to get in a 6-year long line for a KoT.... though I do have a StewMac version to build...

Yes! The PoT can really get what I'm going for. I'm getting the feel for it. Exploring. OK, more gain, less volume, or a little less gain more volume dial back the tone, yup. There it is. You know what I mean.

KoT is six years now? wow. Well, they're hand built. If you want one from Mike, get in line.

That is one Boost/OD I still want to try, but I doubt it will unseat my Keeley Java and OG SansAmp as my two go-to pedals for my clean boost to classic OD needs. I will say the MXR Fat Sugar and Dunlop EP came pretty damn close to filling the perfect middle ground between them, but neither offered the flexibility or gave up the distinct textures I love that those two pedals nail perfectly.

Still, no harm in giving a BB based drive a whirl. How do these compare to the OG Blues Breaker pedals?

I’m interested in doing this for sure. Was the boost mode and overdrive changed at all? Seems to be the way to go if this can get close to the KOT. I absolutely hear a difference between the two. Both pedals sound great but the KOT to me is absolutely better. The KOT has more low end I think.
.I’m assuming you like the distortion mode better?
