Vintage 1958 RED Les Paul Standard

Just stumbled across this from a Mike Menza. It all nearly ended sadly, with Joe Menza swinging the headstock around very near to the table he was sitting at. Very clean, VERY clean and not a hint of fade.

The first half of 1958 is not missing AFAIK -at least not this part of '58..

I've seen this guitar in person a couple of times. A dealer had it in Rhode Island in the '90s with the ledger.

Yeah almost looks as if it was. Yellow reflection from the nickel can be seen in the video, though.
And who in their right mind would change the parts to chrome on a unique vintage guitar?

I know ppl did all sorts of things to their guitars back then, but
That is on the verge of a felony IMO.

I really can't imagine this isn't a refin GT. I know Gibson made the first 58' Burst with an off-center seam but I don't believe they made this one in this color? If the guitar was sent back to Gibson for refin like the Rick Derringer 1957 GT (LUCY), Gibson changed all nickel to chrome because in the 60s that's what they had. Derringer sold the guitar because he felt they ruined it with the updates while refinishing was what he'd asked for.

My uncle -RIP, was an attorney, and a guy-Steve Morman-Ralph Morman's Cousin.
Ralph, sang on Joe Perry's first Solo album-Let the Music Do the Talking.. Ralph passed in 2014.
But Steves brother, Mike passed, in 1999 - 2000, and Steve came to my uncle, to do the estate. Steve passed in 2021.
So. It turns out, his older brother had a Red 58 Les Paul. Pristine condition. Not sure if it was Wine, or Cherry Red. I didnt see it, and cant remember what shade of Red Steve told me it was.
So neither one of them knowing anything about guitars, Steve went to Gruhn's, and he offered $50,000 for the guitar, right on the spot. And Steve took the money.
I dont know what the actual worth of a 58 LP was in 2000, but Id think he could have gotten more than $50,000.
