Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
They used UF glue, the same thing we use for making plywood and particle board, for the body because it was becoming an industry standard back then and worked well for the body. They stacked many bodies on top of each other and then pressed them together, supposedly using radio frequencies to heat and speed up the process. UF glue is susceptible to water, but pressed in between two chunks of wood with no chance of moisture reaching it is virtually indestructible and impossible to separate. Using UF glue for the fretboard and neck to body joint would not have been practical. Also, Gibson did re-neck and re-fingerboard guitars for customers dating back many years. Hide glue is about the best thing you can use for making this an easy process and had been used for many years prior to the Bursts.
Good Morning everyone, hope you all had a great Weekend.
I have more news, this time the neck re-shaping. Florian explains.
" Here I'm removing just the shoulders of your neck with a spokeshave I can use with one hand. Then I'm erasing the "stairsteps" the blade created with a small, supersharp rasp and give the neck it's final shape. After sanding it with my human hand ( - which isn't a cnc!) this neck is "unputdownable" and sports the famous v-ish c-shape everybody loves. "
No, we haven't talked about that one yet and the time is getting close.
I think I would like it Gold on the front and Brown on the back. Although I've always liked the idea of a dark back, but I think I'll stick with the way it was originally.

$86,231!!! That just blows my mind. Thanks Subliminal, after seeing that price tag It puts it all in perspective for me. I feel good about my choices in life....
So how does every one feel about the all Gold finish? I know the advert said it was highly desirable, but they would say that.
" On the right side you will see your old inserts I already pulled out. These are a diecast material.
On the left the ones which will go in your guitar. I had them hand made by a friend of mine, he's a skilled metalworker. They are made out of magnetic iron.
I age and cryo-tune them. This makes a difference sound-wise (they are heavier too.) On the 2nd pic you see a sandwich I made out of Honduran Mahogany and Eastern Maple as a plug for the tailpiece hole on the high-e side which will be glued in there. "
The quality of the screen shot isn't great, I cant seem to be able to down load a better shot so here's a link to the site. Obviously I've no idea how long the link will work but here it is anyway.
