THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING!
We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and recently moved to a new hosting platform. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
Please support our Les Paul Forum Sponsors with your business - Gary's Classic Guitars, Wildwood Guitars, Chicago Music Exchange, Reverb.com, Throbak.com and True Vintage Guitar. From personal experience doing business with all of them, they are first class organizations. Thank you!
XX,
Wondering if Luxe has signed on exclusively with Gibson and no longer is selling direct to the public? The website is up and apparently still open for business.
Redeyedvireo,
Many years ago, there was a thread here about swapping out tailpiece studs for vintage length ones.
The thread talked about taking vintage length studs and since they were longer, the OP talked about using a 3/8" drill bit and hand turning it in the stud holes and gently working...
I have a 22 58 Junior DC, a 23 M2M R9 and a 24 60 Special DC. All came with what appear to be Luxe Bees and Gibson branded pots. On all three guitars I replaced the volume pots with RS 500K Super Pots. IMHO, The RS pots have a much better, more useable taper. Her’s how I came to find this. A few...
Aahzz,
Since I posted the original post there have been two developments. I had a chance to reacquire my 2022 CS 58 Junior DC and just last week I picked up a 2024 CS 1960 Les Paul Special DC . The USA price was obviously better but I had the chance to get my old one and a new one so I’m good...
Greetings!
I am contemplating buying a USA production Les Paul Special. Does anyone have a newer ( 2022 up) one that you could post up a pic of the neck joint under the pickup I'd also like to see the difference between a Custom Shop version and the USA Production version.
Thanks in advance!
JB, I’ve got this posted several places. Some people are saying they have one and they have no issues. Others have sent them back. Tomorrow I’m going to call Gibson, see if I can get some legit info.
JB, I did watch this previously. While Trogly is pretty reliable, I’m still looking for people who have them and see what their impressions are concerning the issues.
Greetings! I am contemplating getting one of the new Gibson Exclusive Les Paul Junior Double Cuts. Supposedly, there are issues with the stop bar/bridge placement. Suppo, there are issues with the string placement; not being directly over the pole pieces. Supposedly, Gibson includes a lightning...
The latest issue of Vintage Guitar has an article about Gary’s SG’s. The one with the Schiller bridge is a 1966 model. The article referenced Charlie Starr playing the Freebird SG as well as other tidbits about Gary’s gear. Still would like to know how they modified that Maestro frame to anchor...
JB, I do agree that SOMEBODY will pay his asking price. As you said, possibly a collector / fan of GR and the band. I’m hoping more will chime in but it might be a worn out topic.
Greetings!
I have a friend who owns a Custom Shop Gary Rossington Les Paul. The guitar was signed by Gary and my friend has pics proving provenance of Gary signing and holding the guitar. Additionally, my friend has all of the candy that came with the guitar, all paperwork, display case and...
This is an interesting topic. Most of the pics that I recall seeing of Gary were of the 61 Les Paul SG. I never heard about the 70’s with the harmonica bridge until recently. I would be interested in seeing close up pics of how the strings anchor into the Maestro tailpiece.
I ordered from Luxe on July 2, 2024. Did not know there had been issues. It’s now September 6th, several emails in and NOTHING. Really pisses me off. Just sent another email.
If anybody has ANY contact info for Donovan, kindly post up or send me a DM.
THANKS!
