a Tonebender is a thing of beauty .....

The thing about 3 tranny tone benders is that as you roll off guitar volume the tone gets brighter and brighter. Treble booster not required. Interestingly in the vid I noticed Page went into the wah first THEN the Tone bender. Personally I prefer it the other way around (buffered or not)...

Honest Review - Gibson Murphy Lab Heavy Aged

Sounded to me like the GT had more output. Perhaps if the covers were removed from the ML, you'd get a little ore of that output with the ability to brighten up the tone if desired. Bottom line, the human ear is always attracted to "brighter" so it's pretty relative as to whether or not the ML...

How do you pick a great Les Paul historic ?

The "look" has to speak to me and it HAS to feel amazing in my hands. By then I'm hooked. Barring anything seriously amiss tone-wise, I find I can dial them in in that department, no problem.

    Randy Bachman's historic 7/23/2011

Here's Randy recording o/d's with an R8. '03 or '05, I can't remember the year - I sold it quite awhile ago. The best part of the sessions were his stories. A walking musical encyclopaedia. Not only that, but his knowledge in record engineering/producing and the stories that went with that was...

    Tone turds ....

My first LP was a bit of a turd. I didn't know it until I had the pleasure of playing one of Slash's early one's and my jaw dropped. I got rid of it the same week, bought a tele and didn't touch another LP for a decade. In fairness, there may have been a split in the body that didn't show up in...

Not a fan of clowns & tight flames, so I bought one...

Throbak’s might be in the cards. I had time to really work on the pups, and to get it right was pretty tricky. Unfortunately to have some room to balance them I had to take the pup cover off the bridge, screw the poles flat aNd raise it to about on the high side 3/64 and low side 6/64 (approx...

Not a fan of clowns & tight flames, so I bought one...

NGD (Formerly, Not a fan of clowns & tight flames, so I bought one..." I don't know why. Something about it just says the 1960's to me. Kind of hippyish. Kind of like a car crash, I couldn't stop looking :D. Normally this type of flame bugs my eyes, but somehow there's a softness in the...

    CS Johnny Winter Firebird

My pal bought this from the estate a few years back and I had a chance to check it out. I was amazed at the workmanship/artistry of it. I would have thought it the original. The neck feel was amazing - wow.

    Replacing aftermarket pickups with stock

Plenty of threads with the opposite, so I figured I’d pipe in with this one :) When I bought my 2013 Joe Perry I played a few gigs with it stock, got quite a few compliments on it’s sound and personally really dug the tone. Very “woody” you felt like you really heard the guitar’s personality...

    CC & Artist Custombuckers

Hi fellas, So normal custombuckers are made with Alnico 3s but I am wondering if the CC and Artist pups use magnets that better reflect the tonal properties of the guitar they are trying to replicate? Or is the furthest they go is measuring the resistance of the winds?
