• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hey everyone I've been trying to find some info on why my guitar could be doing this and I figured someone here may know the answer.
When I have the neck pickup selected I have to make sure the volume and tone knobs for the bridge pickup are all the way up because for some reason they control the neck as if the switch was in middle position. So if I have the neck pickup selected a d turn the bridge volume down all the way, no sound comes out. From looking at diagrams It seems to me that the wiring is fine but as I'm new to this I may be missing something. Any ideas?

It sounds like you either have a wiring fault or a faulty switch that is causing both pickups to be selected when the switch is in the neck position. Try touching the pickups with a screwdriver when the switch is in the neck position to see which pickup(s) are active (you will hear a click through the amp if the pickup is active)

i have a feeling its the switch itself, i had the selector on the neck pickup and both pickups were active and the guitar sounds exactly the same whether im in the neck position or the middle position

Do these have the right angle style toggle switch? If so it should be fairly easy to see what is going on with the switch. There are 2 sets of contacts, with the switch in the middle position both sets should be closed, when the switch is moved up or down it should open the contacts on one side. If one set of contacts is not opening properly that would cause the exact symptoms you describe.
